Amentum Law Clerk I in Washington, District Of Columbia

Amentum is seeking a Law Clerk. The candidate will enhance current staffing and supplement Automated Litigation Support services and support litigation efforts. Support includes, but is not limited to, building and maintaining ALS infrastructure, and managing complex cases.

  • Performs complex legal research.

  • Prepares presentation for senior/lead attorneys.

  • Assists in preparing draft legal documents, such as complaints and motions, draft discovery requests and analyze the responses, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.

  • Assists in reviewing documents for relevance and privilege; and assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation.

  • Compiles, prepares, and summarizes relevant materials for use by attorneys in discovery and in preparation of motions, briefs, and other legal documents.

  • Summarizes depositions and other transcripts; maintains case files; performs simple legal research; indexes, tracks, and controls document discovery (including documents produced and received in discovery).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

  • Must possess Law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study

  • Possess sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.

  • Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.

  • Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.

Preferred:

  • Some financial analyst experience.
