Walla Walla Community College is accepting applications to fill the role of Program Specialist 2 position for the WWCC Correction Education program located at the Washington State Penitentiary (WSP) in Walla Walla, Washington.

 

This position is filled to fulfill a contract awarded to Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) by the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges{rel="nofollow"} (WSBCTC) to operate a correctional education program at WSP in accordance with an interagency agreement with the Department of Corrections. Walla Walla Community College and its employees working in a correctional education program are expected to follow all Department of Corrections (DOC) Policies, IT and other Security requirements, follow DOC Operational Memorandums, and comply with the Superintendent's directions.

General Responsibilities:

This position provides support for the basic skills Education program by corresponding with and providing information to students and counselors, including GED/HSD verifications, assigning basic skills, HS+ students, assign/track/submit Classroom Assistants, Administer the GED Exams through the Pearson Vue process, and train and supervise new office staff. Maintain records for students and provide information in response to requests about educational programs offered to medium and close custody offenders. Assist the Assistant Dean, Director of Adult Basic Education, office staff and faculty to support a positive work environment.

 

Essential Functions:

Testing and Student Services

  • Coordinating GED testing with teachers, students and office staff.
  • Administer GED tests (Certified Pearson Vue Test Administrator) to students in compliance with GED/Pearson Vue policies and procedures.
  • Compiling and disseminating accurate testing statistics including maintaining spreadsheet of GED completions and pass/fail rates by instructor names.
  • Reviewing Pearson Vue invoices for accuracy before payment is made
  • Schedule and monitor Program Assistant testing schedule.
  • Student orientation

     

     

Instructor/Counselor Support

 

Support faculty as appropriate to include:

  • Arranging GED testing callouts, retrieving GED scores and printing student improvement suggestions

  • Weekly student assignments

  • Locate, download, and share the following new student information with instructors:

    • Prior GED scores and CASAS scores
    • GED registration forms
  • Gathering and assigning books and calculators, and other supplies.

  • Creating new student registration packets weekly and new quarterly packets.

** ** ** ** **General Office Duties** Print and send transcript requests for the following purposes:

  • GED/HSD verification
  • Obtain partial transcripts for student in HS+

Evaluate partial transcripts and maintain HS+ tracking sheets
