Amentum Handyman/Grounds Maintenance in Bahamas, The

Amentum is seeking a Handyman/Grounds Maintenance to join our team on Andros Island, Bahamas to support the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) mission. This position is reserved for Bahamian citizens only. Must be a citizen of the Bahamas.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work location is AUTEC/Site 2 - Cargill Creek

  • Reports directly to Site 2 Leader and assists the Site Leader with daily activities as needed.

  • Maintains and improves the grounds and facilities including buildings, residential areas, beaches and common areas, removes litter and debris.

  • Operates various types of equipment including power mowers, saws, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, sprayers, etc.

  • Trims and edges around walks, flower beds and structures. Prunes shrubs and trees.

  • Performs regular maintenance and minor repairs on lawn equipment.

  • Frequent lifting, moving, carrying, pushing, pulling of over 50 lbs. Frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a citizen of the Bahamas. This position is reserved for Bahamian Citizens only.

  • One year or more of general maintenance experience.

  • Ability read write and speak English.

  • Ability to pass a Police Records Check.

  • Working knowledge of grounds-keeping principals and power landscape equipment Must be able to adhere to safety procedures to do physical tasks.

  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision, and as part of team.

  • Must possess a valid Driver's License.

  • Must be able to pass preemployment and random substance abuse screenings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Computer and MS-Office applications skills are a plus.
