Job Description Summary

The Manufacturing Leader will be responsible for Manufacturing output, Production, Product test and Materials Management in line with Project requirements VSC and LCC Products including sub-assemblies and RMA Process up to and including collection of Finished goods and repaired units. Ensuring the attainment of goals with respect to Safety, Quality, Cost, Production and Compliance.

Developing processes that meet business needs across the organisation, managing complex issues within functional areas of expertise, involvement in long term planning and contribution to the overall business Strategy. Managing Customer FAT and Internal and External Factory Tours.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Attainment of goals with respect to safety, quality, cost, production, and compliance, Initiate and Lead process / product improvement programs and provide process method excellence throughout the organisation.

  • Achieve goals in asset utilisation, process / manufacturing loss improvement, deliver quality and cost reduction.

  • Management of all materials ensuring SAP conditions are satisfied, including line side rejects and shortages.

  • Ensure communication of key business / customer issues to employees

  • Direct the manufacturing of production and support development of hardware.

  • Responsible for meeting all established cost, quality, and delivery commitments.

  • Ensure assigned employees and contingent workers are aware/comply with all GE, Government, Customer and applicable policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • Support the pursuit of state of the art technology and processes to enhance product / process producibility and delivered quality requirements.

  • Recruit, train, develop and provide leadership and direction for all assigned employees and contingent workers concerned in the operation and understanding of manufacturing and Materials requirements, including Test Technician / Operator requirements and Training.

  • Provide ongoing supervision and counselling for employees and contingent workers, guiding them in current positions and assisting with career development and training as applicable.

  • Manage Apprenticeship scheme within the production area. Selecting, Managing Leading and Training Apprentices.

  • Interface with other organisations and vendors to assure requirements are met on time.

  • Implement the Manufacturing plans in line with project requirements.

  • Develop necessary business plans to enhance all program requirements, including throughput, labour hours, cycle, cost producibility, and image.

  • Structure assigned organisation and staff positions with personnel to accomplish business objectives.

  • Work with IT and other stakeholders in the development of an Manufacturing Interface (LMS and others) ensuring full traceability of key Materials.

  • Act as PIC – Person in Control in respect of all Test requirements.

  • Work with stakeholders to define scheduling templates, define capacity, establish critical path and interdependencies.

  • Implementing RMA Process improving turn around and weekly Capacity.

  • Develop a robust process and team within Material Management Function.

  • Manage all Inventory reporting and accuracy.

  • Continuous Improvement in all areas but particularly Material Management.

  • Develop KPIs to measure schedule performance, establish operating rhythms to ensure schedule adherence and execution, and provide regular visual management on OTD, risks and promote cross-functionally migration/corrective actions to maintain order OTD.

  • Work with Lean office to continuously optimize flow and drive material velocity for improved OTD, inventory turns and cash flow.

  • Use technical experience and analytical thinking to problem solve, determine root cause, and propose countermeasures to improve performance on key performance indicators.

  • SAP Expertise within the Production / Materials module.

  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (Our main preference for Engineering discipline).

  • Technical or engineering experience with electronic, electrical (HV) and mechanical products.

  • An excellent Process oriented individual having ability to analyse and make improvements.

  • Proven facilitation and team leading skills.

  • Excellent written / oral communication and interpersonal skills, customer focused, enthusiastic.

  • Ability to work effectively across functions, prior experience of developing and leading a team or significant multidisciplinary project.

  • Proven mentoring and coaching abilities demonstrated ability to motivate & inspire others.

Desired Characteristics

  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certified

  • Demonstrated strategic awareness combined with tactical implementation capability.

  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to identify and explain critical issues.

  • Use of Value Stream mapping and expert in lean.

  • Engineering associated with the manufacturing process.

  • Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline.

  • Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.

  • The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).
