GAF Forklift Operator in Shafter, California

Team or Function Overview

High paced / Continuous Manufacturing Environment. Operates various sit-down forklifts to load products for shipment by dry van and flatbed trucks. Accurately pick and load correct products and keep accurate records. Interact with Truck Drivers to ensure safety and loading procedures are followed. Participate as an active team member to achieve plant, department, and team goals. Work an early schedule, overtime and weekends as needed.This role may have to work at any one of the mat off-site locations from time to time.

Summary

This position has the primary responsibility for loading finished goods to GAF customers. Achieve excellence in executing the assigned inventory stocking plans. The scope of this position includes safely driving, loading, unloading, and staging of product in the proper location.

Schedule

Monday - Friday; every other Saturday

3 AM - 11 AM and 7 AM - 3 PM

Schedule can vary depending on shipping volumes

Compensation

$22.94/Hour + full benefits on day 1!

Essential Duties

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain good customer service with both internal and external customers (i.e. truck drivers, other department team members…)

  • Operateequipment(forklift,propanetank,etc.)safelyatalltimes

  • Ship material by FIFO (first in first out)

  • Ship/shuttle material by Item number and by location

  • Verify production according to the Production Verification Check-List.

  • Load and unload trucks, and railcars safely

  • Handle material safely and without causing damage

  • Rework damaged material within specified time

  • Hand stack material (safely) when order includes partial items

  • Relocate and consolidate material to make adequate space for production using pre-printed relocation sheets and keep track of all transfers

  • Maintain forklift by inspecting, recording and reporting any issues immediately

  • Maintain good housekeeping at all times

  • Perform other duties assigned by Supervisor/Team Leader.

  • Complete all documentation per standards

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

Must be able to drive a forklift which requires sitting for long periods of time, as well as the ability to use your arms and legs to work the controls, brakes and steering wheel.

Must be able to work in ambient temperatures.

Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 80 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing.

Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery.

Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone and/or radios.

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Minimum of 6 months required in a manufacturing/industrial/warehouse environment; 1-2 years preferred Work Behaviors and Team Skills
