The UW School of Medicine's Educational Quality Improvement (EQI) Program has an excellent opportunity for a Program Operations Analyst (E S 8) (working title: Accreditation Program Analyst).

The Accreditation Program Analyst will play a key role in providing program data analysis and data-driven recommendations to the EQI Office in Academic Affairs and committees that EQI supports at the University of Washington School of Medicine.

The position is dedicated to optimizing continuous quality improvement strategies to ensure compliance with the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) standards, accreditation readiness and monitoring the school’s strategic plan outcomes under the auspices of EQISP (Educational Quality Improvement and Strategic Planning) Committee. To do so, the Accreditation Program Analyst will perform qualitative and quantitative data analysis of operational performance metrics and develop reports and visual tools for the EQI Office and the committees that EQI supports. This role requires proactive analytic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and timely in response to data-related inquiries, problems, or concerns from stakeholders including academic and regional affairs deans, governance committees and School of Medicine faculty and staff. The position also provides administrative support to the EQI, Academic Affairs Data Interest Group, and the LCME Self-Study Committees with project management, process improvement initiatives, and meeting minutes, etc.

The Accreditation Program Analyst will report to the Director of Educational Quality Improvement and indirectly to the Associate Dean of EQI and is anticipated to work with stakeholders listed above.

Position Complexities: The Accreditation Program Analyst’s work influences the quality of education for over 1,000 enrolled medical students in the medical school’s regional educational system across Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho. The position plays a critical role in planning, analyzing, and reporting continuous quality improvement data. The Accreditation Program Analyst is integral to assuring that the EQI Office and committees fulfill their responsibility.

This position requires the following:

  • A proven ability to handle sensitive information and work independently under pressure with tight deadlines and evolving priorities.

  • Commitment to serve as a liaison between EQI and the Office of Academic & Learning Technologies to ensure data integration to the Academic Affairs DataMart (AADM).To be successful, the individual must 1) understand the goals and interests of the unit and the School; 2) establish and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and stakeholders; 3) maintain accurate, efficient, and transparent communication; and 4) take initiatives to learn innovative and creative skills to improve the services of the unit. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Data Analysis and Reporting (40%)

  • Produce data-based reports and create visual overview including dashboards (Excel, Power BI, etc.) of continuous quality improvement data and trends appropriate to the audience and delivery method.

  • Integrate new data sources into the Academic Affairs DataMart (AADM) to support accreditation and quality improvement needs.

  • Utilize AADM to collect and analyze medical education academic and service delivery information.

  • Write basic to moderately complex SQL queries to extract data needed for reports; collaborate with Academic & Learning Technologies (ALT) or Medical Education & Evaluation (MEE) team for advanced SQL queries.

  • Proactively maintain data for accreditation status reports and CQI activities throughout the eight-year accreditation cycle.

  • Draft and assist with data interpretation for accreditation reports.

  • Collaborate with individuals and groups in the school that perform or support data analytics, such as ALT, the Program, Evaluation and Assessment Committee, and the Division of Medical Education and Evaluation.

  • Coordinate complex and collaborative data projects involving EQI business processes, evaluations, and data process improvement strategies.

  • Develop and maintain processes and procedures for efficient data collection, processing, validation, and reporting, especially during the period to prepare the accreditation related materials.Operational Support (30%)

  • Participate in School of Medicine committees such as the Educational Quality Improvement and Strategic Planning Committee, Academic Affairs Data Interest Group, Program Evaluation and Assessment Committee, Educational Data Governance, and other programmatic meetings, webinars, events, and/or conferences as appropriate and relevant to responsibilities.

  • Provide operational support to Academic Affairs Data Interest Group such as scheduling meetings, taking meeting minutes, etc.

  • Provide operational support to self-study committees including scheduling meetings taking minutes, providing available resources.

  • Assist EQI team with programmatic events, special projects, and perform other work-related duties as assigned.Survey and Data Coordination (15%)

  • Develop internal surveys to collect student feedback using RedCap or Qualtrics.

  • Organize and maintain data dictionary.

  • Monitor initial survey results.

  • Serve as a member of the Survey Workgroup which oversees the accreditation related survey management of the School of Medicine.UW SoM Medical Student Education Program Strategic Planning (15%)

  • In collaboration with strategic planning stakeholders, develop reporting benchmarks.

  • Create visualizations and tools to monitor strategic planning outcomes. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in education, mathematics, social sciences, business, technology, or public health.

  • Three years of relevant experience in a business analyst, program analyst, or research analysis role or data-focused role.

  • Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups, charts, Power Query, etc.)

  • Must know how to use Power BI or Tableau; if Tableau, must be willing to learn Power BI.

  • Experience using a relational database system.

  • Excellent data communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of reliability, accuracy and productivity.

  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with a high level of discretion.

  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1.5+ years of SQL experience.

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in a business analyst, data analyst, or research analysis role

  • Experience with program analysis at the School of Medicine or the University of Washington

  • Experience in the methods and systems of continuous quality improvement CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT The position may require the employee to work beyond a normal work week (e.g. more than 40 hours a week) and intermittently requires evening and weekend time to participate in medical student programs, meet project deadlines, and attend meetings.
