Purpose of the Role

To ensure the in time procurement of parts and services supporting the maintenance plan. Working at Colas Rail, you will be able to expand your knowledge and widen your skill base.

Within this role, you will have interaction with many key stakeholders of Colas Rail, for example Finance, Commercial, Engineering, Procurement. The role will require you to maintain a good relationship with all our suppliers whilst maintaining a price index.

Key Responsibilities

  • Request quotations (via procurement) and raise requisitions for the provision of services.

  • Acknowledge/process the receipt of services (Goods Receipt Notes)

  • Update, maintain and validate Purchase Order Numbers and Supplier Invoices

  • Manage to completion any arising invoice queries

  • Provide support in budgeting, forecasting and period-end reporting

  • Manage the repairable asset list, ensuring that all items are sent away for repair in a timley manner.

  • Raise work orders as required

  • To ensure the in time procurement of parts and services supporting the maintenance plan.

  • Scrutinise external contractors work sheets highlighting any uncertainties to the engineering team

  • Request quotations (via procurement) and raise requisitions for the provision of services.

  • Acknowledge/process the receipt of services (Goods Receipt Notes)

  • Update, maintain and validate Purchase Order Numbers and Supplier Invoices

  • General administrative tasks

  • Maintain a good relationship with all our suppliers whilst maintaining a price index

  • Provide support in budgeting, forecasting and period-end reporting

  • Develop Monthly spend projections by loco class to the national maintenance manager

  • Manage reports for tyre turning activities

  • Manage and maintain the asset management system (carl Source )

  • Carry out and log health and safety briefs in CARL. Starter briefs, site inspections, team brief

Person Specification

  • Self-motivated, with a positive, professional attitude and strong work ethic

  • Proactive and inquisitive

  • Ability to prioritize work, and achieve deadlines

  • Critical attention to detail

  • Team player with an ability to work on own initiative without supervision

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook)

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Railway Background

  • Competent in data analysis and visual representation of data
