Eaton Corporation Packaging Engineer in Pune, India

What you’ll do:

The Packaging Engineer is responsible for the initiation, development, and timely completion of packaging design projects for various ARS product lines. Included within the framework of these duties are cost/benefit analysis of new and existing packaging concepts, evaluation and presentation of alternative designs, tooling development and production release.

This position is responsible for assisting various facilities and vendors in troubleshooting packaging problems and design of new product packaging. The position is responsible for labels for products and all levels of cartons.

• Assist the timely development of new and existing primary and secondary packaging through concept, design, testing, tooling, and pilot production in accordance with cost specifications and coordinates these efforts with international company and vendor resources.

• Create and maintain packaging specifications for primary and secondary packaging.

• Prepare Engineering Change Orders for packaging related portions of new Bills of Material (BOM) on new items, any packaging related revisions to BOMs, and any revisions of packaging components.

• Responsible for accuracy of all barcode information within the data systems and on all packaging.

• Work with graphics designers and marketing functions to create, review and approve packaging artwork suitable for mass production that include all required markings for electrical and trade compliance.

• Maintain central data system and templates for packaging print on demand labels.

• Maintain communication with the Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, Operations, Sourcing and Manufacturing departments to ensure the timely development and introduction of new packaging and efficient maintenance of existing packaging.

• Carries out package reviews and evaluates performance tests of all packaging to ensure successful completion of the assignment.

• Identify new materials and processes which would improve product packaging and cost reduction projects to hit annual packaging cost out targets.

• Work with Eaton Distribution Centers and create pallet patterns to maintain optimal efficiency for storage and transport.

• Promote and implement environmentally responsible packaging solutions striving for sustainability and waste reduction.

• Apply knowledge of packaging materials, design principles, manufacturing and supply chain processes to optimize packaging solutions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree/Post-Graduate Diploma in Packaging from an accredited institution required.

• Minimum of 2–3-year experience in packaging role

• Experience in process development

• Experience with SAP or other large enterprise data systems

• Experience with Microsoft Office and production engineering support – emphasis on Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, filters, formulas)

• Experience with packaging design and palletization software -ArtiosCAD, SolidWorks/Creo & Cape/Tops

Skills:

• Basic technical competence and packaging component knowledge.

• Basic supply chain knowledge

• Proficient in the use of MS Office – PowerPoint, Excel, Word

• Ability to work on multiple projects with tight timelines.

• Ability to communicate with varies levels of an organization.

• Maintain relationships with internal and external contacts.

• Strong analytical thinking skills; intellectual rigor and curiosity; problem-solving capability

• Effective interpersonal skills to resolve conflict, develop employees and facilitate corrective action while fostering an environment that supports Eaton values & philosophy.
