Job Description

Core Responsibilities
Develop / Update technical specifications for internal and/or external stakeholders as required.
Utilize load flow tools (e.g., PVL) to analyze and propose solutions to mitigate identified impacts of interconnecting distributed energy resources to Con Edison's electrical system.
Interact with both internal and external customers, DPS staff and various levels of management
Comfortable in working in a fast-paced dynamic environment, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines
Must be flexible, and be capable of exercising independent judgment
Identify and take ownership of issues related to technical matters and/or process improvements
Prepare, review and comment on Company specifications as required, as well as reviewing waiver request.
Collaborate cross functionally with all internal and external stakeholders
Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
Comfortable in presenting to internal stakeholders, various levels of management, and external organization including Department of Public Service
Ability to perform a technical review on Distributed Energy Resource applications which includes, but not limited to, electrical schematics, protection and control systems, and other submitted technical forms.
Support the DER project from design, construction, and witness testing to commission the system for operation.
Remain up to date with advancement in technology and/or equipment to support interconnection
Oversee, train and guide associate engineers and technicians as required
Experience in understanding various DER types and required consideration for interconnection to the Con Edison system
Direct, oversee, and review technical studies performed by contractors
Serve and/or support as a representative for engineering at external working groups (such as the Joint Utility, ITWG and IPWG) to communicate Con Edison's technical position along with bringing back necessary information relating to processes in place and the direction of the industry.
Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree Engineering and Minimum of 3 years of related work experience

- Bachelor's Degree Engineering
Relevant Work Experience
In-depth technical knowledge of the Overhead and Underground Network Con Edison Electrical system Required
Proficient in Microsoft Suites Required
Ability to interpret electrical diagrams and customer site plans Required
Knowledge of electrical switchgears and transformer configurations Required
Must be flexible, and be capable of exercising independent judgment Required
Ability to effectively interact with both internal and external customers, support staff and various levels of management Required
Knowledge of relay protection Required
Knowledge of distributed generation interconnection designs Required
Field experience involving the electric distribution system Required
Experience in utilizing load flow tools in performing analysis related to system faults, power flow, and voltage regulation Preferred
Working knowledge of relay protection and control systems Preferred
In-depth knowledge of the requirements to interconnect to medium voltage (e.g., High Tension customers) Preferred
Experience working with Poly Voltage Load Flow Preferred
Experience working in analytical software such as SINCAL, CAPE, and CYME TCC Preferred

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments
Ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.

Other Physical Demands
Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
Must be able to work rotating shifts and 12 hour shifts, as needed
Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment as required, during visits to various work sites.
Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
Position requires walking, climbing, and standing extensively.
