Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the direction of the Market Service Manager, the HVAC Technician performs preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshoots, and services industrial HVAC systems in multiple acute care and non-acute care hospital settings under the direction of the Lead HVAC technician. The technician performs tests and analysis of data to assure the proper functioning of equipment. Under the supervision of the HVAC Lead tech, the technician will be expected to reliably maintain all equipment per HCA Healthcare Engineering standards to ensure the highest level of efficiency and to reduce business interruptions. Must be well organized, keep accurate service and maintenance records using HCA Healthcare’s computerized maintenance management system, and communicate in a clear and professional manner with all patients, visitors, colleagues and leaders.

This position requires travel to acute care hospitals and associated free standing emergency departments in the division. A team shared company vehicle with all necessary tools will be provided.

HVAC Systems Responsibilities:

• Maintain chilled water and centralized air handling units through regularly scheduled preventative maintenance activities.

• Perform coil cleanings, filter changes, test and balance activities, sensor calibrations, and UV bulb replacements. Belt alignments and replacement, drain pan treatments, damper calibration and repairs, cleaning interior of AHU.

• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, specification and operations manuals.

• Verify correct operation of direct digital control system/pneumatic control systems.

• Perform maintenance and minor repairs on refrigeration and other DX equipment.

• Perform work to the highest industry and manufacturer recommended standards.

• Follow all applicable federal, state, and local safety guidelines including, but not limited to, lock-out/tag-out, OSHA, confined space, PPE, etc.

• Completes and documents all work, equipment conditions and labor time using HCA Healthcare Engineering Central Computerized Maintenance Management System.

• Maintain a clean, professional appearance representative of HCA Healthcare at all times.

• Adheres to all facility policies and procedures while on site, as well as all corporate employment policies.

• Communicate in a clear and professional manner with all patients, visitors, and colleagues and leaders.

Education, Experience, Certification Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• Two-year technical/vocational degree in HVAC.

• Or 2+ years of experience in a commercial, industrial, or healthcare environment preferred

• Or a combination of experience and technical/vocational degree preferred.

• EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required

• Valid state issued driver’s license, in good standing.
