Roper St. Francis MD Lead Receptionist - Park West Family Medicine - Mt. Pleasant in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina

Schedule:

Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

Greets, instructs, directs, and schedules patients and family members. Work with all patients to schedule appointments that best meet their needs. Assist patients with the selection of a primary care clinician stressing the importance of continuity with a primary care clinician. Lead Receptionist will accurately handle prescription requests, medical chart information, schedule referrals with other physician offices and ensure that insurance referrals are made if required. The Lead Receptionist will coordinate with other care team members to provide exceptional patient service. Answers the telephone and directs calls to the appropriate party. The Lead Receptionist must be pleasant at all times, well-groomed and able to multi-task without showing stress to the public. The Lead Receptionist is responsible for collecting co-payments and deductibles at the time of service and accurately posting CPT and ICD-9 codes and their associated charges and payments in the computer, balancing same with the computer printout at the end of the day and preparing the daily deposit. The Lead Receptionist is responsible for all of the above duties as well as training and overseeing the additional receptionist in the practice. The Lead Receptionist should be proficient with HPP (the Practice Management System) and eClinical Works (the EHR).

Essential Job Functions

  • Resource Pool Office Support (in office) and provide support to supervisor to cover PTO and time off, ect. Oversight/training of front office staff.

  • Greets, instructs, directs patients, and handles all telephone calls. Correctly enters patient data into computer. Pulls charts for next day’s work/ files charts as necessary.

  • Accurately posts charges and payments/balances at end of day/makes deposit. Collects co-pays/deductibles at time of service. Makes referrals/ verifies insurance approvals as necessary.

  • Responsible for ordering and monitoring of all front office supplies.

  • Performs other job duties and responsibilities as required.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Intermittent standing. Intermittent walking. Intermittent sitting, bending, stooping or stretching to reach files or supplies. May require lifting or moving items up to 25 lbs. Intermittent use of finger/hand dexterity for typing and operating telephone, copier or other office equipment. Frequent reaching with hands/arms. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Minimal risk of exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases and/or other conditions common to a physician practice environment. Normal medical office environment. Ability to read and comprehend. Work is performed in reception area. Involves frequent contact with patients. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Potential for long or extended hours and a variable schedule based on the needs of the department.
