Join our growing Fire Protection Engineering Department and work alongside our architecture and engineering disciplines. Our portfolio includes the design of health care facilities, corporate headquarters, labs, museums, local, state, and federal government facilities, higher education buildings and campuses, and infrastructure improvements. In this role you will: 1. Participate in the design and/or review of fire protection and life safety systems on multi-discipline projects. 2. Coordinate with and support other A/E disciplines. 3. Carticipate in design review meetings and workshops. 4. Assist with preparation of comprehensive fire protection packages including fire suppression, fire alarm, smoke management, and life safety. 5. Create specification documentation for fire alarm and fire suppression systems. 6. Perform fire suppression and alarm systems calculations. 7. Evaluate building and life safety requirements including building area and height limitations, building construction types, fire resistive assemblies and opening protections, occupancy classifications, hazards, building egress, and active and passive smoke management systems. 8. Provide construction administration support including coordination with field personnel to resolve design related installation issues, the review of contractor shop drawings and calculations, field inspections, and witnessing testing of fire protection systems. 9. Coordinate with all applicable local authority departments to obtain approval at all stages of the project, to include creation of code modification requests and engineering judgements; 10. Perform site evaluations and document existing fire protection systems. 11. Be responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies. 12. Perform other duties as assigned all under the supervision of Senior Engineers.
