Patient conditions include a wide range of medical conditions and recovery from surgical procedures which may or may not require telemetry monitoring. RNs may be required to work on other telemetry units as needed.As a part of this unit, the LPN serves as an important component of the team. This team is responsible for the bedside care of ill adults who require constant observation, timely interventions, and/or specialized monitoring.The LPN model follows the Licensed Practical Nursing Scope of Practice deemed by the Kentucky Board of Nursing. Under the direction of an RN, the primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing comprehensive, continuous and patient centered care which includes: on-going assessments, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistant); and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations.
