Federal Emergency Management Agency Public Affairs Specialist in Kihei, Hawaii

In this Public Affairs Specialist position, you will develop messages and products to enhance public understanding and support of the agency's mission, strategy, priorities, and activities, including digital content such as audio and video files, podcasts, and digital signage.

Typical assignments include:

  • Provide writing, editing, and technical assistance in the development of digital signs, web content, electronic newsletters, employee messages and other agency publications.
  • Supporting the external information program by producing, editing, and manipulating all forms of digital content, including audio and video files, podcasts, electronic photography, and digital signage.
  • Serving as principal photographer and photo editor for public affairs visual information and external and internal specialized products as requested.
  • Writing cutlines describing photos and subjects, properly labeling images and including metadata when necessary.
  • Managing, caring for, and taking accountability for photographic equipment, supplies, and materials.
  • Creating and maintaining digital photo library recording the office's mission, history, challenges, and successes.
  • Participating in and contributing to the full range of responsibilities and tasks managed by Public Affairs and Congressional Relations.
