GeneCapture is seeking to hire a Molecular Biologist I or II to assist in designing and testing novel molecular diagnostics.We are interested in hands-on problem solvers who can cross the bounds from biology to engineering. Details on the specific systems being developed will be provided once hired, but the curiosity to understand those systems inside and out will make you one of us.

Qualified applicants will be able to communicate clearly and effectively, be comfortable with quantitative analyses, enjoy participating in hands-on collaborative RandD efforts, and recognize the challenges and benefits of working within a small company.

General Responsibilities Include:

• Assist in designing and testing novel molecular diagnostic systems and their interplay with the instruments and cartridges that run them.
• Execute validation tests using breadboards or clinical systems.
• Maintain detailed laboratory records.
• Organize and analyze data and create the associated documentation and reports.
• Manage efforts to ensure timely project completion.
• Collaborate in the development of new technical protocols.
• Exercise independent judgment and apply solution thinking to problem solving and troubleshooting.

Particular Responsibilities May Include:

• Maintain and organize inventories of nucleic acid extracts.
• Work with BSL2 pathogens using appropriate biosafety practices.
• Nucleic acid extractions, handling, and amplification.
• Maintain and troubleshoot issues with equipment or prototypes.
• Independently resolve technical and/or supplier issues.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess a strong scientific foundation with proven analytical capabilities, and must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

• B.S. in biological sciences, or similar.
• 2 years' relevant experience in academia or industry.
• Experience with nucleic acid handling and amplification techniques.
