Army Tank-Automotive and Armament Command (TACOM) Administrative Support Assistant (Office Automation) (Direct Hiring Authority) in Herlong Sierra Ordnance Depot, California

Summary About the Position: ierra Army Depot is located in Herlong CA, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. The depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center. Employees work Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Youth Facilities and childcare available. Mass transportation is available at minimal cost. Surrounding area boasts a full range of outdoor sports/recreation activities. Responsibilities Serves as directorate point-of-contact to coordinate and/or relay technical information passed on by other offices. Gathers and compiles data from a variety of sources (regulations, directives, employees, standing operating procedures, etc.) to support studies or inquiries from higher level authorities. Assures propriety of formats, spacing, arrangements, and preparation of typed material in final form as prescribed by acceptable style manuals or specific instructions pertaining to documents being produced. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:1) Performing office automation support such as preparing documents, reports, and correspondences utilizing automated data processing systems 2) Review documents such as correspondence and report for grammatical error; and 3) Utilize automated systems such as Automated Time Attendance and Production Systems (ATAAPS) and Defense Travel Systems (DTS) for inputting employee's timekeeping and travel arrangements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Further certification may occur up to 90 days after original certification. This position is a TERM position. Your initial appointment is for 2 years with POSSIBLE extensions in 2 year increments up to a total of 8 years. These extensions are NOT guaranteed and depend on funding, a need for this position, employee performance, and ability to maintain conditions of employment.
