Commonwealth of Pennsylvania State Park Intern - Natural Resource Management (College) in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

DESCRIPTION OF WORK This intern position relates to natural resource management within the Bureau of State Parks with an emphasis on habitat and invasive species management and some GIS (Geographic Information System) and Field Maps (ESRI app.) The position is introduced to a broad spectrum of tasks related to conservation and protection of natural resources within Pennsylvania state parks. The intern learns from and works directly with Field Service Specialists and the Resource Management and Field Services Section staff in their respective areas of expertise.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment The employment period will occur between the dates of 3/11/24 - 8/30/24. Typical work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: Interns will have the opportunity to work from home (telework), part-time on a schedule that aligns with their supervisor, so they are in the office on the same days. No full time telework will be approved. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you must report to the office. QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements: Current full-time enrollment in a two-year degree, bachelor's degree or advanced degree program in one of the following majors: Forestry Wildlife and Fisheries Science Biology An approved major course which includes a qualifying 24 credit hours of study in the physical, biological and environmental sciences may be acceptable. Freshman year completed. Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher) Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university

Additional Requirements: This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.
