The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Maintenance Division is looking for a motivated Electrician to assist in maintaining the historic facilities at the Capitol Complex and adjacent office buildings. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As an Electrician for the Department of General Services, you will perform a variety of skilled duties relating to the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, electrical distribution equipment and electrical components within the Capitol Complex and outlying buildings. Electrical duties include, but are not limited to: wiring, panel boards, service equipment, circuit breakers, transfer switches, feeders, indoor and outdoor lighting, electric steam boilers, relays, transformers and modular furniture electric distribution. In this position, you will also pinpoint and correct power failures and short circuits. In addition, you will review and follow blueprints, drawing specifications and layout sketches in order to prepare for material requirements. This position may require that you work from ladders, scaffolding, and lifts to heights of 40 feet.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment. Work hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. *Essential Employee - Required to work during emergencies and office closings. *This position requires MANDATORY winter snow and ice removal. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Successful completion of the Electrician Trainee program (commonwealth title); or Four years of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, components, and equipment; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Necessary Special Requirements: Possession of a valid license as a journey-level electrician issued by the local Pennsylvania jurisdiction. Possession of an active motor vehicle license.

Additional Requirements: This position is in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and will require a willingness and ability to work in Dauphin County. You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required): Formal training in a high school or vocational program, apprenticeship, or post high school technical program in the Electrical trade. Possession of Master's-level electrician license. Electrical experience in the commercial or industrial setting. Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints. Experience with 3 phase electrical systems and with working with voltages over 480V. Experience as a lead worker on an electrical project/job. Experience in snow removal with plows, snow blowers, or other snow removal equipment. Willingness and ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, bucket trucks or man lifts.
