North Carolina Agriculture & Technical State Unive Endpoint Security Administrator in Greensboro, North Carolina

Description:

The Endpoint Security Administrator provides the extensive technical expertise to manage endpoint security for the entire university. The administrator leads the process of assessing security requirements, designing secure configurations, implementing controls on endpoints, and responding to security incidents involving endpoints. The administrator works with other members of Enterprise Endpoint Management to carry out these tasks and with other senior technical staff to coordinate services, configurations, security, and upgrades to provide high performance and secure endpoints for the entire university.

The administrator reports to the Director of Enterprise Endpoint Management and is a key member of the department and the Information Technology Services ( ITS ) operations and security teams as well as the division’s senior technical staff.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit:

Information Technology Services ( ITS ) strengthens and supports the university’s mission of teaching, research, and scholarly application of knowledge by providing the information technology infrastructure, software, hardware, and support to achieve the university’s strategic goals. ITS is comprised of nine departments which work with the university community to provide the information technology support and services required to realize operational excellence, integrate advanced technology, and create efficient and effective technology solutions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with three (3) years’ experience in endpoint security and technology management roles, with primary responsibility for endpoint security in an enterprise setting, including experience with Microsoft Windows, Active Directory, GPOs, MECM , Intune, and VMware Horizon, or similar applications.

  • Additional experience equivalent to the degree requirements is acceptable.

  • Experience managing virtual desktops in a VMware Horizon environment, including knowledge of VMware vSphere.

  • Significant technical knowledge of enterprise device management and endpoint security.

  • Knowledge of common security standards such as ISO 27002, NIST SP 800-171, or PCI DSS .

  • Ability to create and follow complex technical policies, procedures and guidelines.

  • Ability to apply in-depth technical knowledge and troubleshooting techniques to resolve issues.

  • Demonstrated strong customer service orientation, and experience in partnering with other units and fostering a team spirit within the department.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

  • Ability to work independently when performing tasks with minimal supervision, while maintaining appropriate levels of communication.

Preferred:

  • Five (5) years of experience in endpoint management and technology support roles using the tools listed under required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • An advanced degree related to the duties and responsibilities of the position.

  • Experience managing and securing Apple MacOS and iOS, and Linux endpoints.

  • Experience with JAMF PRO , LAPS , CrowdStrike EDR , Spirion DLP , and PAM systems.

  • Experience with vulnerability management, incident response, endpoint forensics, and evidence handling.

  • Experience with encryption and key escrow systems.

  • Experience with project management principles.

  • Knowledge of FERPA , HIPAA and CJIS Security Policy requirements and controls.

  • Experience with basic scripting using languages such as PowerShell, C, Python, Perl or bash.

  • Experience with open-source management and security tools, and network scanning tools.
