General Mills Inc Master Electrician in Golden Valley, Minnesota

OVERVIEW This position is the Master Electrician for the James F. Bell Technical Center site for General Mills. This site is the site of multiple pilot plants and our R&D environment plus has setup for office settings, as well. The focus of this role is to ensure a safe work-site for employees and contractors, driving building and equipment electrical system reliability and safe work practices for employees. The site master electrician oversees electrical installations, develops electrical safety standards, leads training and troubleshooting, and works closely with customers across the site including R&D, Supply Chain Engineering teams and other internal/external stakeholders. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES ITQ Site Master Electrician of record with State of MN compliant with Minnesota Statute 3800.3550 Lead electrical safety requirements including training and onboarding with new employees concerning PPE compliance, MN electrical licensing requirements, compliance of NFPA 70E and GMI Electrical Safe Work Practices Program. Supervise electrical work of GMI unlicensed, PLT, licensed employees and contractors performing installations, additions, alterations, or repair work at JFB. Approve electrical work hours for unlicensed employees and ensure unlicensed registrations and continuing education credits are current. Review electrical drawings, equipment specifications, and technical documents to ensure equipment meets GMI standards or determine appropriate solutions to achieve equivalent status. Ensure equipment meets UL or other NRTL requirements. Coordinate third party approvals when needed. Develop and implement comprehensive electrical system preventive maintenance plan for the electrical infrastructure and distribution for the JFB campus. Facilitate building electrical shutdowns for preventative and corrective work. Lead efforts to develop, centralize, and maintain electrical system documentation, one-line diagrams, short circuit, and arc flash studies. Provide guidance for current and future electrical system modifications. Stay current with GMI Electrical Engineering Standards. Coordinate and facilitate audits with the State of MN Electrical Inspector. Maintain integrity of emergency and stand-by electrical system. Maintain and standardize electrical nomenclature for all switchgear, transformers, and panelboards. Troubleshoot power interruptions and lead reliability efforts to maintain power to the site. Be on call for site power interruptions and coordinate efforts with Xcel or other high voltage contractors. Lead root cause analysis, maintenance, and repair on industrial process equipment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Two-year trade school certificate in an accredited Electrical program State of Minnesota Master Electrician Class A license (Can also consider applicants with active licenses from North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska or any other state that has a reciprocate agreement with Minnesota) 5 years of work experience as a licensed Minnesota Electrician Experience with electrical contractor and project management Strong understanding of MN Electrical Statues, OSHA, NEC, and NFPA70E Effective communication, safety, and leadership skills Must be able to work in a cross functional team environment that requires continuous skill development. Salary Range The salary range for this position is $67300.00 - $101200.00 / Annually.
