Summary This position is covered under the Federal Excepted Service under Title 10 United States Code, Section 1746 and Title 5, Code of Federal Regulations Schedule A, Section 213.3106(h). Purpose of Position: Serves as a Learning Support Analyst to assist faculty with learning delivery products and service in support of the DAU mission. Responsibilities Uses general knowledge of instructional methods, training modes and techniques to effectively support faculty in achieving the full range of the learning process. Perform all duties required to support successful execution of synchronous and asynchronous, virtual and on-site courses and consult activities, to include pre- and post- session organization and analysis. Applies to all methods of training executed by DAU. Meets with teaching faculty and plans administrative and technical support for assigned courses/consult up to 90 days in advance. Performs duties that may be physical in nature for traditional classes, including classroom setup and cleanup, processing print requests, preparing welcome messages, maintaining rosters, managing registrations, disseminating reference materials, creating course failure and attrition letters and assisting faculty and students as required. Coordinates and conducts digital environment functionality checks prior to courses with faculty and students/customers; connecting to audio/computer, providing on call assistance, introduce students/customers to the environment, cover fundamentals and navigation of the platforms. Assists faculty with facilitation of synchronous and asynchronous offerings/consults as required; produce sessions, manage breakout/team rooms, monitor virtual classes, provide students/customers with technical assistance, and collect data for analysis as requested. Assists assigned faculty with course/consult delivery by handling administrative matters, conducting automation verification and demonstrations with students/customers upon course/consult commencement, and facilitating learning group activities. Assists students/customers with use of course tools and software. Assists during practical exercises, classroom instruction and helps prepare for assigned classes by ensuring materials, training aids and trainer are operational. Supports instruction according to lesson plans, or deviates, based on student/customer needs and faculty direction. Monitors and observes students/customers during practical exercises and provides assistance as required. Accomplishes such functions as procuring expendable and nonexpendable supplies and equipment for in-person instruction/consult; composing, revising and printing welcome letters; assisting with guest speaker arrangements; editing instructional materials provided by faculty; preparing rosters and training materials. Performs other duties as assigned. Faculty Duties: Creates and/or delivers learning assets and content as needed, and coordinates with partner divisions that manage related curriculum, or that control DAU processes and tools. Stays abreast of changes and trends in primary functional area, continuously researching, gaining and sharing knowledge in federal communities of practice. Pursues and maintains digital and data analysis fluency that align with DAU and primary functional area best practices in public and private industry. Maintains currency in, and actively uses university technology, digital and social media platforms. Focus on the needs of the customer in a modern learning and business environment that is subject to continual change with respect to platforms, networks and delivery Serves as a thinking partner with stakeholders and customers, continuously improving product and service delivery to provide the right knowledge and service the point of need through synchronous and asynchronous methods. Builds relationships and collaborates with peers and program management leaders from all organizations within the area of responsibility. Elicits feedback to shape the policies, processes and procedures that produce a frictionless experience for the customers and stakeholders Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Please reference the Education section of this announcement to review the DAU Faculty Pay Band Minimum Education and Specialized Experience Requirements To qualify for this position at a respective band/grade level, you must demonstrate in your resume/application that you possess the required years of specialized experience equivalent to one band/grade-level lower (or equivalent) to include having specialized experience directly relating to the specific duties of the position, and demonstrate that you have the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully with the experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge in traditional and modern training methods and techniques including Knowledge at using Learning management systems e.g. instructional design systems and all e-learning platforms used by the university and proficiency in digital application skills to include but not limited to the Microsoft suite software, Microsoft 365 Applications, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams and other new tools. Proficient in video production for education and training materials (e.g., Camtasia) and have strong virtual production skills to assist faculty/students in virtual instructor led classes. Knowledgeable of survey development and the use of survey tools, research and graphic arts skills to enhance training materials. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education DAU Faculty Pay Band Minimum Education and Specialized Experience Requirements: DAU Pay Band A (AD-11) (Equivalent to a GS-09 through GS-13 General Schedule grade equivalency): Minimum Education and Specialized Experience: Basic requirements for Band A include a minimum of a Bachelor level degree and up to four years of experience in the appropriate functional area. Please note: Technical certifications and/or experience may be approved by the DAU Chief of Staff (delegated from the DAU President) to meet the needs of the University. Initial appointment is made for a period of three years, conditional upon satisfactory completion of a DAU probationary period of two years. At the one year mark, as part of an annual review, consideration is given to extending the appointment; thus at any one time moving beyond that point an employee will have two years remaining. DAU employees enjoy flexible work schedules, transit subsidy, and the opportunity to telework. At the supervisor's discretion, the selectee may be able to work remotely.
