Job Description : (S upports administrative and legal operations for the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) for Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) , U.S. Dept. of Justice)

The Legal Assistant II performs any combination of the following to ensure legal documents are properly formatted and thoroughly; proofread for punctuation, spelling and grammar; produce final documents that are error free. Manages production of records for review by various US Circuit Courts. Serves as the liaison between the EOIR Board of Appeals and the DOJ Office for Immigration Litigation (OIL). Accurately prepare appropriate legal documents in final form in accordance with rules governing style and format. Provides additional administrative support including but not limited to filing, updates to internal websites (SharePoint) and digitization of records.

The Legal Assistant II is responsible for managing a small team of professionals, generating production reports and analysis of the same and performing quality control for all records.

Qualifications :

· Ability to successfully complete an extensive government background check

· US citizenship

· Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the legal field and Paralegal Certificate

· Data entry - Microsoft office application knowledge

· Basic computer knowledge

· Organizational skills

· Communication and Management/supervisory skills

· Lifting (up to 25 lbs.)

Preferred Qualification: Juris Doctorate
