High School Data Leader
Job Description
Purpose: The High School Data Leader assists the principal at Derby High
School in providing professional leadership to organize,
administer, supervise, and evaluate a creative and effective school
program.
This position is designed to help improve student achievement by
facilitating data collection, analysis, collaborative dialogue, and
staff development. The position is also responsible to the school
principal for assisting with the coordination and implementation of
all aspects related to College and Career Readiness as identified
by the school administration. Areas of work will include but are not
limited to high school/college credit, advanced placement course
offerings, high school course offerings, student attendance,
truancy reporting, state assessment coordination, ACT testing
coordination, student enrollment, school improvement,
accreditation, and extracurricular activity supervision.
Responsible to: Building Principal
Salary: Annual Contract
Classification of Employment: Exempt (if Certified)
Date: September 2021
Qualifications:
1. Current Kansas State Teaching License on file in the central office. Leadership
endorsement preferred.
2. A Masters degree from an accredited college/university and knowledge of
Career and Technical Education is preferred.
3. Minimum of 5 years experience in education.
4. Ability to coach staff members.
5. Ability to lead meetings and facilitate discussion.
6. Well organized with good time-management skills.
7. Strong communication skills.
8. Experience working with:
a. District management systems; and
b. Microsoft Office.
9. A minimum of three years of experience as a coach/sponsor/activities coordinator,
is preferred.
10. Desire to continue career improvement.
Essential Functions:
1. Knowledge, Skill and Abilities
a. Responsible for working with the Administration and Counselors on the
coordination and implementation of the districts Comprehensive Assessment
System and related protocols.
b. Responsible for collection, analysis, and dissemination of school data.
i. Must comply with all district and state assessment protocols as directed
by the district.
ii. Must model effective, efficient, legal and ethical collection and
dissemination of data.
c. Coordinate on-going staff and student training opportunities regarding data
through:
i. Faculty meetings;
ii. PLC; and
iii. Teacher teams and school departments.
d. Lead data driven dialogue with staff.
i. Provide up-to-date and relevant data to staff.
ii. Lead or assist school level discussion or professional development as
appropriate.
e. Communicate openly and effectively with students, community, parents, staff
and administration.
f. Support the development of student career interests though the
development of individual plans of study.
g. Plan, organize and participate in career days.
h. Make recommendations to administration on areas pertaining to college
and career readiness.
i. Support extracurricular activities by supervising events.
j. Support the value of an education.
k. Support the philosophy and mission of Derby Public Schools.
l. Comply with all district policies, rules, and regulations.
2. Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
a. Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods, for up to several
hours at a time.
b. Occasionally requires the ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push
heavy objects or materials.
c. Occasionally requires the ability to stoop, bend and reach.
d. Requires the ability to travel.
e. Must be abl e to work indoors and outdoors year-round.
f. Must be able to work in noisy and crowded environments.
g. Must be able to work long and irregular hours.
h. Requires physical and emotional endurance.
i. Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
