Description of Job

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for providing guidance, professional learning, and resources to all Colorado approved facility schools to support students and educators. The role manages and oversees the curriculum, instruction and assessment for all facility schools. They will also provide, coordinate, and support professional development for facility school educators and the Technical Assistance Center. While this role requires self-initiative and independence, the Office of Facility Schools is a small team that works collaboratively. The team is passionate about supporting the education of our most at-risk youth.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide leadership in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment for approved facility schools.

Develop, implement and maintain curriculum resources for approved facility schools, including alignment with Facility Schools Board parameters and the Colorado Academic Standards. This includes curriculum for general education, special education, and multi-lingual students.

Design, develop, and provide professional learning opportunities to approved facility school educators in the curriculum resources.

Develop and maintain instructional resources for approved facility schools educators.

Develop, coordinate, and conduct training opportunities for educators in approved facility schools regarding instructional best practices for all students.

Monitor, model, and support facility school educators utilizing classroom walk-through observations and observations as part of induction.

Identify best practices and resources in curriculum, instruction, and assessment to support facility school educators.

Develop tools to support facility school leaders in tracking instructional strategies, educator performance, and student outcomes.

Develop and maintain assessment resources for approved facility schools educators including formative, diagnostic and standardized assessments, including tools for progress monitoring.

Develop, coordinate, and conduct professional learning opportunities for educators in approved facility schools regarding strategies, resources, best practices for assessing and monitoring academic progress of all students.

Collaborate with the approved facility schools state assessment coordinator to support approved facility schools in resources and training in relation to the administration of state assessments.

Work collaboratively with staff of the Office of Facility Schools to support the academic system and other work of the office, for approved facility schools.

Initiate, plan and coordinate professional learning events for facility schools educators.

Develop and/or conduct professional development for special education staff to support the Technical Assistance Center.

Identify and coordinate professional development from facility schools for school districts to support the Technical Assistance Center.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

MINIMUMEDUCATION ANDEXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Education, Curriculum-Instruction-Assessment, or related field (Required)

Master's degree in Education Administration, Curriculum-Instruction-Assessment, or related field (Preferred)

Minimum of 3 years experience in public or facility schools in administrative role overseeing academic systems

Experience teaching/working with students and staff in an educational environment

Required - License in Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Special Education, Administration or related field

QUALIFICATIONS AND CONDITIONS:

• Knowledge of and ability to apply current standards-based educational practices associated with general and special education

• Demonstrates knowledge of approved facility schools

• Demonstrates knowledge in academic systems - curriculum, instruction, and assessment

• Knowledge and experience developing and providing professional learning opportunities for adults

• Knowledge of general education and special education curriculum, instruction and assessment practices and resources

• Experience collaborating and coordinating support for educators, to improve student outcomes

• Experience planning and coordinating professional learning events

• Will take responsibility for outcomes and actions

• Conducts business in a timely manner

• Demonstrated effectiveness in delivering professional learning to adult learners

• Projects a positive attitude

• Strong communication skills, including timely, accurate, appropriate, and clear written and verbal communication to all internal and external stakeholders
