Robert Half Cost Accountant in Columbia, South Carolina
Description Robert Half is currently working with a client seeking a cost accountant. The Cost Accountant is a critical role responsible for the ongoing analysis of product cost, development of new product cost and margin analysis. This role will also work closely with the sales teams and senior financial management team to establish customer pricing. This position is for a talented Cost Accountant looking for a company experiencing substantial growth.
Key responsibilities
Develop and support the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization
Examine manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
Analyze the data collected and log a detailed record of the results
Determine any changes in cost by analyzing any changes in services or goods provided
Assist in audits and general ledger preparation
Monitor the cycle count program and conduct physical inventories
Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements
Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings
Generate and complete internal cost audits
Make estimates of new and proposed product costs
Assemble reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services
Conduct variance analysis such as Purchase Price to Cost variance, cost revaluation, Invoice to PO price variances and work order variances
Implement standardized costing methodology for all domestic plants
Collect data and plan projects to decide costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor usage, waste Requirements
3+ years of Cost Accounting work experience
Strong analytical thinking and a detail-oriented mindset
Prior experience utilizing cost management methodologies, activities, and cost pools based on direct and indirect cost rates
Bachelors degree in accounting or related field
Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Strong understanding of organizational accounting concepts
Outstanding skills in analyzing financial data and promptly generating accurate report
