Description

Robert Half is seeking a System Engineer.

Worksite is in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The System Engineer duties include but are not limited to:

Responsible for administering the districts servers (including all virtual machines, operating systems, educational software, and cloud-based software solutions that runs on said servers), security servers (including their camera hookups and camera positioning), computer systems (including Chromebooks), and various other electronic teacher aids (i.e. smartboards, document camera’s, etc.). Duties will also encompass a working with the Sr. Network Engineer with requested security audits. Responsible for keeping track of all software licensing, their renewal timelines, and gaining quote for afore mentioned software. Responsibility will also include resolving and responding to all security threats where appropriate, and working with the Sr. Network Engineer in keeping our networks secure. Working with vendors to create specification of new systems This includes being the point of contact for all new possible software purchases, hardware purchases associated with the districts systems) and installation and implementation of same once approved by the Director of Technology.

The successful System Engineer will have:

•High School diploma or equivalent.

•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar discipline (Masters preferred).

•Professional certification may be used in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree at the sole discretion of the Director of Technology (i.e. Microsoft Certified Systems Administers (MCSA), Certified Systems Administrator (CSA), Windows Server Enterprise Administrator (MCITP), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), and etc.).

•8 Years of experience working with Microsoft Networks across Local Area Networks (LANS), Wide Area Networks (WANS), and Metropolitan Area Networks (MANS) utilizing TCP/IP and various other forms of protocols.

•Experience with database management software (i.e. MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, etc.).

•Excellent scripting skills with knowledge of programming languages (i.e. Perl, Ruby, and Python).

•Previous managerial experience preferred.

•Experience with or knowledge of programming languages and operating systems; current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, systems performance-monitoring tools, active directory, virtualization, HTTP traffic, content delivery, caching.

•Experience in project management, application design/integration, and cloud computing (i.e. Microsoft Azure, AWS, and etc.).

•Knowledge of Unix system administration.

•Current understanding of best practices regarding system security measures.

•Professional work experience in team building and project management.

•Professional work experience understanding and working with various operating systems and their implications.

•Experience with software engineering, customer experience, in an educational environment preferred.
