Responsibilities You will provide thorough assessment, non-medical counseling, and consultation services to clients who present for care with substance use risk factors and/or disorders. You will interview individuals and family members to explore and analyze factors influencing personality development and family structure in relation to the development of symptomatic behavior patterns and interpersonal problems. You will independently devise individualized service plans (e.g., individual counseling, family counseling, referral for in client services, etc.). You will provide continuing support and treatment to clients and families. You will conduct seminars and training programs. You will compile statistical data of services provided for review and analysis by a supervisor. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Conducting screenings and assessments, and providing therapeutic counseling, consultation services and education related to substance abuse disorders. Education Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: GS-0185-11: Must have completed a degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, or professional counseling that fulfills all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work or marriage and family therapy from an accredited school. Or Must have completed a master's degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, or professional counseling with practicum completed. GS-0180-11: Must have completed a degree with a major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations. Or Must have completed 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or successfully completed all the requirements for a master's degree directly to counseling psychology in an accredited educational institution. Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience Completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree may be substituted for specialized experience. Additional Information Conditions of Employment Continued: This position has been designated as a position of trust. You must be eligible for a (Tier 3) Secret Security Clearance to satisfy IT Level II designation. Appointment and continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of the security clearance. Tier 3 is required to access and enter information into the Alcohol and Drug Management Information Tracking System. Substance Abuse Certification (Alcohol and Drug Counselor II, International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium substance abuse counselor certification or state equivalent) acquired through passing a proctored exam, from a state or nationally accredited certifying body is required This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
