Philips Head of PMO Image Guided Therapy Systems in Best, Netherlands

As Head of PMO Image Guided Therapy Systems (IGTS) you will be End to End responsible for leading projects/programs, prioritization, planning and execution of our project road map and business benefits realization. As the Head of PMO is one of our Key Strategic strengths in IGTS business, we expect you to deploy Philips Excellence along the End-to-End customer value chain. This role is part of the IGTS R&D Leadership Team.

Your Role:

  • Leading, with your team, End to end the portfolio of our projects and programs with a significant budget

  • Lead by example and feel accountable for the output of all Business Programs related deliverables

  • Provide leadership to the Project Management Excellence function: formulate and implement the Portfolio and Project Management vision thereby steering the team towards premier execution excellence in portfolio and project management

  • Act as a gatekeeper within the R&D management team by bringing transparency around all programs in the business unit and work with the team to set the right priorities and sequence based on the business objectives and the level of maturity in the market.

  • Understand cross-functional business requirements, interface with Service, Integrated Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory, Marketing and the market organizations as required for the execution of the program portfolio. Ensure cross-functional conflicts are resolved and where needed escalated to the business management team.

  • Orchestrate transformation initiatives integrally to ensure change is sustainable and embedded in our organization. Define, implement and deploy continuous improvements to optimize efficiency and effectiveness of the organization. Create and maintain standardized ways-of-working for initiating, scheduling, tracking, reporting and closing of projects.

  • Ensure effective introduction of products, technologies, systems, solutions or services. Lead the scope and requirements. Manage the business cases and be a business partner focused on maximization of the added new value for the business. Ensure project execution is in line with guidelines.

  • Determine project risks, define corrective action and drive the projects to closure. Determine, allocate, and direct all project resources in accordance with guidelines. Prepare recommendations in support of management decisions reg. changes in scope, timing, cost and impact on the overall project portfolio.

  • Lead and coach the Business Programs Teams: create a performance culture and support their career development. Recruit Integral Project Managers to deliver on commitments.

  • Ensure flawless and highly effective partner management, with regular communication towards key business and functional leaders on establishing program goals, reviewing new and existing projects and plans, progress, priorities, risks and opportunities. Work collaboratively with the functions to ensure adequate allocation of staff to the projects.

You're the right fit if:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering. MBA is a plus.

  • 15+ years of proven and successful track record in planning and execution of complex programs (project management or/and PMO role) on a global scale combined with hands on change management experience in a business/product development environment. Demonstrated experience of cross cultural environment.

  • Very strong project and program management capabilities and experience – PMP certification is required for this role (SAFe, MS project, Critical Chain management).

  • Experience in medical device industry

  • Operational business / R&D experience are an advantage with a deep understanding of P&L elements and drivers, and the ability to work with and consolidate financial data.

  • Track record in managing continuous improvement (LEAN, Six Sigma, Black Belt, DFSS) and Change Management / Business Transformation programs (Lean / Six Sigma certification is strongly preferred).

  • Experience with building transparency on the progress via dashboards and reporting.

  • Influencing skills to challenge, educate, guide, convince and gain commitment from senior executives.

  • Solutions mindset – the ability to identify and tackle complex problems with thorough consideration of alternatives, consequences.

  • Strong leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams where management through influence is required at all levels.

  • Strong consulting and relationship management skills, executive presence and credibility with the demonstrated ability to develop effective and trusted strategic relationships with key senior partners.

  • Strong result orientation and tireless work ethic. Must be tenacious, with the emotional intelligence to know when to push harder and when to look for alternative approaches.

  • Excellent English language skills (both written and spoken).
