Sulzer Pumps US Inc. Electro-Mechanical Supervisor in Basra, Iraq

Purpose of the job - to provide supervision of workshop overhaul, repair, overhaul installation and commissioning services for motors, generators and ancillary equipment within Iraq.

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Supervise, plan, organise and delegate work to your designated team.

  • Support team in determining the optimum approach to work execution and provide technical guidance and trouble shooting for more complex activities where necessary.

  • Communicating job progress updates to clients effectively .

  • Develop and maintain good and effective relationships with clients to optimise further service opportunities.

  • Liaise with technical departments within Sulzer to develop engineering solutions.

  • Be the first point of contact for allocated customers in respect of any issues relating to agreed scopes of work .

  • Machine inspection and fault finding.

  • Machine strip down with rotor removal and stator core removal.

  • Coil burn out and stator repairs / core rebuilds.

  • Winding of new coils into the stator, wedging and connecting.

  • Core insertion, Rotor threading.

  • Machine rebuilds and final inspections .

  • Bearing inspection and measurements.

  • Be able to carry out T&C checks, measuring shaft dimensions and creating basic drawings for required work.

  • Onsite service / repair work and commissioning.

  • Testing - Mega, PD, TD, HV, Interturn and Flux (All would be an advantage).

  • Varnishing and VPI processes (Knowledge of).

  • Strong understanding of Quality control, EHS / Risk assessments and method statements, COSHH control.

  • Operate specialized repair and testing equipment, including but not limited to winding machines, test panels, core loss testers, cut off saws, lathes, milling machines, burnout brazing units, dip tanks, VPI systems and various handheld power and non-power tools.

  • Manage relevant suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Compilation of comprehensive reports in line with company quality management system .

  • Ensure all work meets appropriate standards and quality control criteria.

  • Participate and actively support company initiatives.

  • Familiar with the risks and hazards within the activities and processes of the role and procedures, practices and measures in place to mitigate the risks.

  • Responsible for creating, planning and pre-authorisation of lift plans and safe execution of all lifting operations.

What you bring to Sulzer:

  • Electrical Engineering degree;

  • Apprenticeship with valid certification;

  • At least 10 years’ experience of HV & LV rotating electrical equipment (motors & generators);

  • Motor winding / re-winding, particularly HV rewinding experience;

  • EX motor repairs experience;

  • LV, MV, HV motor testing experience;

  • Experience of supervising and managing teams of engineers;

  • General repair of electrical equipment;

  • Fault finding including RCA;

  • Communication & relationship management skills;

  • Customer service skills;

  • Organisation and planning skills;

  • Flexibility and adaptability;

  • Attention to detail;

  • Clear & thorough reports;

  • General computer skills (MS office).

Working shedule - rotation basis (4 weeks on / 4 weeks off).

Location - Basra, Iraq.
