Casual – Bodywork Technician and Damage Estimator

The Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) Mission is to provide Naval Warfare Centers, the Fleet, and other customers with accurate undersea, surface, and in-air three-dimensional tracking data and other unique Atlantic test facilities. In support of Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E), and Fleet readiness assessment and training. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport's largest single team project, providing both deep and shallow water test and training environments.

Responsible for providing damage estimates and body repair on Government owned light duty trucks, cars, heavy trucks, heavy equipment IAW NAVFAC P 300 AND NAVSUP 538 on the AUTEC project.


  • Provide professional estimates on body damage to government vehicles on demand on the island.

  • Provide online estimates as necessary.

  • Prepare and submit order/requisitions for parts on an as needed basis.

  • Provide complete documentation of repairs on Work Requests.

  • Use and maintain tools and equipment

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • High school graduate or equivalent.

  • Frequent travel to Andros Island, Bahamas is required.

  • Ten (10) years’ experience in auto body repair and body damage estimates.

  • ASE certifications preferred.

  • Knowledge of Occupational hazards and safety precautions.

  • Must be able to regularly stand/bend at waist/stoop/ crouch and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to work in loud environment.

  • Must be able to work on uneven terrain.

  • Must be able to reside unaccompanied in a remote location with limited medical facilities.

  • This position requires the individual to be eligible to obtain a US Government security clearance; US Citizenship is required.

  • Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities.

  • A valid US Passport and Driver’s License is required.
