Job Overview

The Learning Specialist I provide diagnostic evaluations and intervention programs for children with learning disabilities in all settings in which learning services are offered, including but not limited to outpatient, outreach, and telehealth programs.

Department: Community Health: HP Learning Disabilities Services Job: Full-Time; 40 hours/week - eligible for benefits Shift Details: Tuesday and Thursday 9-7 Wednesday and Friday 8-6. Candidates must be open to Telehealth.

Qualifications

EDUCATION - Master's degree in special education, speech-language pathology, psychology or related field. EXPERIENCE - One-year pediatric experience in a hospital, rehabilitation, or school setting providing evaluation and treatment services for children with learning disabilities, required. Bilingual in English and Spanish required CERTIFICATION(S) - Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate LICENSURE -Professional certification or license may be required depending upon field of expertise (e.g. Colorado Department of Education Teacher's License, Speech Language Pathology ASHA CCC etc).

Completes diagnostic evaluations consistent with contemporary, evidence-based practice in learning disabilities and department quality assurance standards. Clinician incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services. Provides developmentally appropriate intervention services consistent with contemporary, evidence-based practice in learning disabilities and department quality assurance standards. Clinician incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services. Collaborates with the family, physicians, schools and other educational institutions, and other providers to ensure the continuum of care for the child and optimal clinical services. All interactions are non-judgmental and based on mutual respect. Completes case management activities consistent with department quality assurance and quality improvement standards. Assists in achieving departmental financial budget targets. Completes written documentation in accordance with department standards for format, location and time frames. Demonstrates leadership and participates in systematic, planned professional development to improve the clinical, educational, research, and advocacy goals of the department and hospital.
